Working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

Constitutional Recognition

The Australian Government is committed to recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians in the Constitution.

To progress this, the Government has allocated $7.3 million for the co-design of models to improve local and regional decision making and options for constitutional recognition.

Consultations will be undertaken with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians to define a Voice and to consider options for constitutional recognition.
