Barkindji Maraura Rangers

Fletchers Lake and associated wetlands near Dareton in south-west New South Wales is home to the Barkindji Maraura people and an important part of the Murray-Darling System.

The Barkindji Maraura Rangers carry out ecological assessments and on-ground works at wetland sites in the Fletchers Lake Reserve. They integrate traditional and contemporary ecological knowledge in conjunction with elders and partners, to restore and enhance the biodiversity of the wetland.

The area is culturally important to the Barkindji Maraura people and rangers are also involved in the identification and protection of their cultural sites.
