Big Dog Island IPA and Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre Rangers

Big Dog Island, to the south of Flinders Island, was dedicated as an Indigenous Protected Area in 2009.

It remains an important mutton-birding island for Aboriginal people.

The Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre Rangers manage the island and continue to maintain healthy tussock rookeries and remove mirror bush, as well as monitor mutton birds and look after their rookeries.
