Recognition of Native Title Representative Bodies consultation open

The Minister for Indigenous Australians, the Hon Ken Wyatt AM MP, has invited the Kimberley Land Council, North Queensland Land Council, Torres Strait Regional Authority and Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation to apply for recognition as the native title representative body for their regions.

Native title representative bodies help people to make native title claims and agreements.

The above organisations are representative bodies whose terms expire on 30 June 2021.

A consultation is now open to people with native title interests in the Kimberley, North Queensland, Torres Strait, Geraldton and Pilbara regions and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in these regions.
