CDP Update

From Monday 19 October 2020, the Community Development Program (CDP) will resume full CDP servicing arrangements.

The Government has been committed to ensuring mutual obligation requirements have remained flexible and appropriate for job seekers throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The resumption of full CDP servicing will include the reintroduction of mutual obligation requirements for job seekers.

This means that job seekers will be required to attend activities and appointments to meet their mutual obligations to receive income support. Between 19 October 2020 and 19 November 2020, CDP providers will apply a considered approach to job seeker compliance action for mutual obligation requirements.

Job seekers can apply to Services Australia (Centrelink) for an exemption if they are unable to meet their mutual obligation requirements, such as health or cultural reasons.

CDP providers will continue to follow local health advice of health authorities and any state, territory or local community travel restrictions, including practising good hygiene, physical distancing at activities, and advising job seekers to staying at home if unwell.

From 19 October, CDP providers will:

  • Offer full face-to-face CDP services and group activities in line with health advice.
  • Continue to focus on re-engaging with job seekers and engaging new job seeker to update or create job plans.
  • Apply a considered approach (for the first month) for job seeker non-attendance.
  • Implement COVID-19 safe work plans and update risk plans, including activity risk plans.
