The Applicants and the Commonwealth have successfully reached a mediated outcome in the matter of Basil Joshua Dawson & Ors v Commonwealth of Australia and have executed a deed of settlement. As this matter is a class action, the settlement is now subject to the approval of the Federal Court of Australia.

As this matter continues to be considered by the Federal Court of Australia, the Commonwealth does not consider it appropriate to comment further at this time.
