A new resource for child safety

The National Office for Child Safety has worked in partnership with SNAICC – National Voice for our Children and the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency, to create resources that support organisations working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and communities.

The Keeping Our Kids Safe resources were designed to help organisations deliver their work in a way where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and communities know and feel that their culture and identity are respected.

The resources apply a cultural lens to the ten National Principles for Child Safe Organisations to help organisations think more about how to make themselves child safe in a culturally safe way.

The resources include:

Over 100 individuals and organisations representing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, communities, and young people, as well as non-Indigenous organisations servicing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities from all over Australia, had a say in shaping these resources during the consultation process.
