Celebrating NAIDOC Week: Get up! Stand up! Show up! 3-10 July 2022

NAIDOC Week 2022 will be held from Sunday 3 July to Sunday 10 July.

This year’s theme – Get up! Stand up! Show up! – encourages all of us to champion institutional, structural, collaborative, and cooperative change while celebrating those who have already driven and led change in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities over generations.

Events will be held around Australia during NAIDOC week to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

NAIDOC is celebrated by people from all walks of life, Indigenous and non‑Indigenous. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support and amplify the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Ahead of NAIDOC Week, there are lots of ways you can get involved:

National NAIDOC poster competition

Entries for the 2022 National NAIDOC poster competition are open.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists aged 13 years or older are invited to submit artwork that reflects the theme.

The winning artist will receive a $10,000 cash prize (tax free) and their artwork will be used as the official 2022 National NAIDOC Week Poster. Additionally, they will receive a ticket for themselves and one guest to the National NAIDOC Awards ceremony.

Entries for the poster competition close 14 March 2022 at 11:59PM (AEDT).

Nominations for the 2022 National NAIDOC Awards

The National NAIDOC Awards recognise excellence and the outstanding contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in ten award categories.

People are encouraged to nominate individuals and groups who have empowered Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in their communities and beyond, promoted Indigenous issues in the wider community or shown excellence in their chosen field.

Nominations for the 2022 National NAIDOC Awards are open until 11 April 2022 at 11:59PM (AEST).
