Publication abstract:

The Indigenous Evaluation Committee’s inaugural meeting was held in Canberra on 6 July 2018.

Key discussions

The Committee reviewed the Committee’s Terms of Reference, Operations and Principles.

Information and Evaluation Branch provided the Committee with an overview of the Indigenous Advancement Strategy (IAS) and the IAS Evaluation Framework.

The Committee reviewed the draft 2018-19 Annual Evaluation Work Plan.

The Committee noted the status of the current evaluations:

  • Mental Health First Aid Training
  • Strengthening the System Effectiveness of Early Childhood Investments

The Committee discussed the Community Development Programme Evaluation.

Key message

The Committee highlighted the importance of ensuring Indigenous voices are heard in evaluations.

Other business

The Committee proposed that the Office of Development Effectiveness (ODE), Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, present at a future meeting on the role and functions of the ODE’s Independent Evaluation Committee.

Next meeting

The Committee’s next meeting will be held in Canberra on 17 August 2018.
