For further information about the IAS, including grant opportunities, see funding under the IAS.

Grant funding is also available through Indigenous-specific and mainstream programs delivered by other agencies.

Information about all government funding opportunities is available at GrantConnect.

NAIDOC 2024 Local Grants

The NAIDOC 2024 Local Grants Opportunity is now closed.

Held across Australia from 7-14 July 2024, NAIDOC Week will celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year’s theme, Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud, honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture – with fire a symbol of connection to Country, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The NIAA manages the NAIDOC Local Grants and the application process which are delivered under Program 1.4 - Culture and Capability of the Indigenous Advancement Stratey. The NAIDOC Local Grants Round for 2024 closed 3pm, Thursday 22 February 2024.

NAIDOC Week activities and events must be delivered in accordance with the latest government and health advice to limit the risk of transmission of COVID-19, particularly with respect to protecting Elders and those with chronic health issues.

To learn more about this year’s NAIDOC theme and for more information on NAIDOC Week visit www.naidoc.org.au.

Support for Community Sector Organisations

The Support for Community Sector Organisations measure was announced in the 2022-2023 October Budget to support organisations in need of funding supplementation to address staff wage pressures and high inflation rates. The supplementation is provided through additional payments to eligible organisations over four years.

The NIAA has determined which funded organisations and activities are eligible for supplementation in line with the published Grant Opportunity Guidelines available on GrantConnect.  As circumstances affecting CSOs and activities change, this list may also change, and so the NIAA will periodically update this list when appropriate.

A list of organisations and associated grant activities eligible to receive 2022-2023 Support for Community Sector Organisations payments from NIAA is also available.

Indigenous Entrepreneurs Fund (IEF)

The IEF was a three year program that ended on 30 June 2019.

Funding under the IEF is no longer available. Potential applicants can speak with their local NIAA office to discuss alternative options.
