Publication abstract:

This is the second annual report for the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) following its establishment on 1 July 2019.

The NIAA 2020–21 Annual Report outlines the Agency’s key achievements and our ongoing deliverables that contribute to improving the lives of Indigenous Australians.

We have been focused on several priorities and deliverables, as outlined in the NIAA Corporate Plan for 2020–21, including furthering the co-design process for an Indigenous Voice and implementing the National Agreement on Closing the Gap. We have also led initiatives to improve mental health, youth suicide prevention, community safety, education and employment outcomes while remaining focused on creating economic opportunities that support businesses to create new jobs as part of the broader Commonwealth recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

NIAA’s annual reports can also be found on the whole-of-Government Transparency Portal, the central repository of publicly available corporate information for all Commonwealth bodies.

This annual report has been prepared in accordance with section 46 of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act)
