Boosting First Nations Employment (Pillar 1: Boosting First Nations leadership by increasing First Nations SES to 100)

Action description:

Pillar 1: Boosting First Nations leadership by increasing First Nations SES to 100

The SES100 initiatives will attract new senior executive recruits and promotions with ambition to reach 100 First Nations SES by 2024-25. The program connects new hires into existing First Nations SES Networks through networking and other events. The program will also support and strengthen the experience of cultural safety through building a cohort that is self-sustaining beyond the program to improve retention. It will deliver additional whole of APS SES bulk round recruitment; system-wide tracking and building the data and evidence base across First Nations employee lifecycles to understand the drivers of success and the reasons individuals leave the APS and/or discontinue development opportunities.

Once 100 First Nations SES are identified, the Unit are responsible for the development, delivery and implementation of individualised professional career coaching and talent development to support successful SES100 candidates into their new roles. This includes personalised wrap around supports, buddies, use of mentoring, mobility opportunities and APS specific induction supports for those who enter outside of the APS.
