Boosting First Nations Employment (Pillar 2: Growing a partnership and a talent pipeline by supporting 75 Executive Level employees)

Action description:

Pillar 2: Growing a partnership and a talent pipeline by supporting 75 Executive Level employees

Develop and deliver an EL2 Assessment and Development program to provide 75 EL2s over the course of two years to enable them to be promoted into SES roles. The program will provide a culturally inclusive approach to transforming government leadership, tapping into First Nations perspectives at the most senior levels. These programs will prioritise cultural safety by taking a strengths-based approach to increase  representation through a talent pipeline to grow competitiveness for SES roles, supporting employment equity, attraction and retention.

This will include:

A personalised capability assessment to inform a development plan for each EL2, 360 degree feedback, group and individual coaching as well as mentoring through existing networks to support career progression. It will include an initial conference event for First Nations EL2 staff participating in the program. This initiative increases the level of support provided to First Nations EL2s than currently available to build a competitive pipeline of talent within the APS for future First Nations SES leaders.
