Improving ear health and hearing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children

Action description: 

Hearing Australia's First Nations Action Plan (2022-2025) is aimed at reducing excessively high rates of ear disease (otitis media) and hearing loss among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

The Action Plan was publicly launched in the first quarter of the 2022-23 financial year. Actions have been prioritised for implementation and a mechanism for tracking progress has been introduced.

At the end of December 2023, a total of 30 initiatives had been identified. Of these, 9 were complete, 19 were on track and the remaining 2 were slightly delayed but anticipated to meet their required completion dates.
