National Children's Education and Care National Workforce Strategy 'Shaping Our Future'

Action description:

In December 2019, all Education Ministers endorsed the development of a new ten-year national workforce strategy as a joint partnership between all governments, the children’s education and care sector, and other key stakeholders. The co-designed Strategy, titled ‘Shaping Our Future, the 10-year National Children’s Education and Care Workforce Strategy’, was released on 13 October 2021 and outlines 21 actions to support the recruitment, retention, sustainability and quality of the early childhood education and care sector workforce. Some actions under the Strategy focus on building the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce in the sector.

An Implementation and Evaluation Plan to guide collaboration between all stakeholders to achieve the National Children's Education and Care Workforce Strategy's action items was developed by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) and published in August 2022.
