National Housing Supply and Affordability Council

Action description: 

The Commonwealth established the National Housing Supply and Affordability Council (the Council). The Council provides independent advice on housing supply and affordability. An interim Council operated in 2023. The statutory Council was established in legislation, passed by parliament in September 2023 and commencing 27 December. In appointing members of the statutory Council, the Minister for Housing must ensure that appointed members to the Council collectively have an appropriate balance of qualifications, skills and experience across 12 relevant fields of expertise including the housing needs of Aboriginal persons and Torres Strait Islanders. Consequently, the statutory Council announced in December is to include Mr Neil Willmett, CEO Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Housing Queensland.
