Consultation: Recognition of Cape York Land Council as a Native Title Representative Body

 

The Minister for Indigenous Australians, the Hon Linda Burney MP, has invited the Cape York Land Council (CYLC) to apply for a further term as the Native Title Representative Body (NTRB) for the Cape York region. A map of representative body regions is below.  NTRBs help people to make Native Title claims and agreements. The CYLC is currently the NTRB for the Cape York region. Its current term expires on 31 December 2023.

People with Native Title interests in the Cape York region, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in the region, can make a submission about the CYLC to inform the Minister’s decision.  

Sending in a submission

Submissions are due by 5.00 pm AEDST on 15 August 2023.

When sending in your submission, we ask that you provide a first name, surname and contact details, however anonymous submissions or those using a pseudonym will also be accepted.
