We are reforming the way employment services are delivered to people living in remote Australia.

A discussion paper is now available for comment to help shape the design of a new remote engagement program. This program will replace the existing Community Development Program (CDP) from 2023.

A series of roundtables and information sessions will take place in remote locations across Australia to seek feedback on the discussion paper and design of the new program.

Some of the key areas for feedback include:

• Activities and placements for job-ready participants
• Tailored support for job-ready participants
• Vocational training for participants
• Non-vocational services for participants to overcome serious barriers to employment
• Mutual obligation requirements

The remote engagement program will be developed in partnership with community, employment services providers and other key stakeholders, to ensure it better meets the needs of remote Australia.
