Applications for the 2020 NAIDOC local grants funding round are now open.

NAIDOC Week provides an opportunity for all Australians to gather and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, achievements and continuing contributions to our country and society.

NAIDOC local grants enable communities to host their own events to celebrate NAIDOC Week. Activities could include cultural showcases, sporting events, family fun days, and other community activities.

Applications are open for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations to support the costs of local and regional NAIDOC activities across Australia.

In 2020, the Australian Government has committed $1.4 million for the NAIDOC local grant activities through the Indigenous Advancement Strategy. In 2019, over 600 organisations across Australia received funding to support their NAIDOC events.

To complement the celebrations of the National NAIDOC Awards being held in Alice Springs (Mparntwe), organisations in Central Australia are encouraged to also consider events and activities that will extend the host-city celebrations.

Applications close 30 March at 8pm (AEDT).

NAIDOC Week 2020 will be celebrated nationally from 5-12 July.

The 2020 National NAIDOC Week theme, “Always was, Always will be.” recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years.
