Wagiman Guwardagun Rangers

The Wagiman Guwardagun Rangers are based at Leewin Springs, near Pine Creek in the Katherine region They manage 130,000 hectares of country on the Wagiman Aboriginal Land Trust.

The rangers are involved in fencing projects to protect sacred sites, as well as an annual burning programme. The main weeds of concern are mimosa, mission and gamba grasses which are regularly monitored and sprayed.

The Wagiman Guwardagun Rangers are also working in partnership with the CSIRO to monitor the threatened freshwater sawfish in the Daly River.
