Publication abstract:

This report presents the findings and recommendations of the Aboriginal Land Commissioner following an inquiry into the Frances Well Land Claim (Application No. 64), a traditional land claim application submitted by the Central Land Council under section 50(1)(a) of the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976 on 4 November 1981.

The report was provided to the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and the Administrator of the Northern Territory on 16 June 2016.

Through a protracted land claim history the land subject to claim was amended a number of times and now consists of the two main areas of Northern Territory Portion 1229 – the Titjikala school block, and Northern Territory Portion 4258 – the balance of the land comprising the Frances Well Reserve after the excision from that area of the overlapping parts of Northern Territory Portions 1229 and 1475.
