Tasmanian Aboriginal Trainee Rangers

The Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service Aboriginal Trainee Rangers:  

  • undertake formal training in conservation and land management and firefighting operations  
  • work across the Tasmanian Parks estate, Aboriginal community leased and owned land  
  • participate in a range of Aboriginal community-directed projects.   

On successful completion of the four-year professional development program, graduates receive a Diploma of Conservation and Land Management. They also gain skills, knowledge and attitudes to develop and implement plans for the sustainable use of natural and cultural resources. 

Graduates transition into full-time, permanent positions within the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service.
