NIAA Annual Report 2024–25
 
          The National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) Annual Report for 2024–25 was tabled in Parliament on 31 October 2025.
The Report provides an overview of the NIAA’s activities throughout 2024–25. It outlines the Agency’s key achievements, performance results and financial statements, and showcases our achievements and ongoing deliverables to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are heard, recognised and empowered.
Throughout the year, the NIAA worked in partnership with First Nations communities and all levels of government to deliver meaningful outcomes.
Some of the key work achieved over the last 12 months includes:
- Co-ordinating the Commonwealth’s commitments under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap, we have continued to work with the Coalition of Peaks, Commonwealth agencies and state and territory governments.
- expanding the Indigenous Rangers Program, with over 2,000 rangers employed and women’s participation increasing from 33% to 42%.
- an ongoing focus on economic participation, including supporting significant reforms to remote employment and a total of 947 jobs being approved for funding as part of the Remote Jobs and Economic Development program during the financial year.
- launching the National Strategy for Food Security in Remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities 2025 - 2035, developed in partnership with peak health bodies and governments, and informed by consultations with over 500 community members.
- influencing across the Australian Public Service to deliver the SES100 initiative, with 100 First Nations leaders now holding SES positions across the APS.
The report also outlines key NIAA initiatives in relation to diversity and inclusion, reconciliation and integrity.
