A new Remote Jobs and Economic Development Program
The Government has announced a new Remote Jobs and Economic Development Program (RJED) that will create 3,000 jobs in remote communities.
The program will start in the second half of 2024, funding 3000 jobs over three years with proper wages and conditions – as part of replacing the Community Development Program (CDP).

The Prime Minister delivered the Commonwealth Closing the Gap 2023 Annual Report and 2024 Implementation Plan on 13 February 2024.
The 2023 Annual Report assesses the Commonwealth’s delivery against actions outlined in the 2023 Implementation Plan. The 2024 Implementation Plan is forward looking, outlining the Commonwealth’s strategic priorities for Closing the Gap over the next year.
The 2023 Annual Report and 2024 Implementation Plan is supported by the 2023 Annual Report Background Report and 2024 Implementation Plan – Background Plan. Additional supporting reports are the 2023 Partnership Stocktake and the 2023 Sector Strengthening Plan Action Updates.
