Testing Community Safety and Justice Outcomes using Randomised Controlled Trials

Program 1.3 - Safety and Wellbeing
Activity type:
Professor Hiscox
Last updated:
5th October 2021

This evaluation assesses the feasibility of implementing rigorous randomised controlled trials to evaluate Indigenous community safety programs. Trials were scoped in areas that include school attendance, youth diversion, prisoner through care, residential drug and community rehabilitation and community night patrols. Furthermore, the evaluation aims to improve the internal capacity within the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet (now National Indigenous Australians Agency) to undertake randomised evaluations, interpret the results of rigorous studies and develop and implement evidence based policy.
