beyond…Kathleen Stacey and Associates has been contracted to deliver two interlinked projects under the Healing for Families Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Framework. The Framework will integrate 12 place-based Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) plans across both the Supporting Healing for Families and Healing for Strong Families programs. The MEL Framework will support transparency, accountability and continuous learning.
The Supporting Healing for Families program was announced in 2021 as part of the first tranche of initiatives under the National Strategy to Prevent and Respond to Child Sexual Abuse 2021-2030. The program is delivering co-designed Indigenous-led, place-based, trauma-aware healing initiatives for First Nations victims and survivors of child sexual abuse and their families in five locations:
- Alice Springs, NT
- Derby, WA
- Inner Gippsland, VIC
- Townsville, QLD
- Western Adelaide, SA.
M&E plans will be co-designed with each site, with each plan aligned to the respective place-based Healing Model.
The Healing for Strong Families program was announced in 2023 as part of the Dedicated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Action Plan - 2023-2025 under the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022–2032. The program aims to strengthen families and support safety, identity and trauma recovery. Place-based, trauma-aware and culturally responsive healing programs will be co-designed with First Nations communities affected by family and domestic violence and at risk of entering the child protection system. The program will be delivered in seven communities:
- Aurukun, QLD
- Bidyadanga, WA
- Coffs Harbour, NSW
- Ngukurr, NT
- Numbulwar, NT
- Perth, WA
- Port Augusta, SA.
M&E plans will be co-designed with each community.
