National Strategy for Food Security in Remote Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Communities 2025-35 Monitoring & Evaluation Framework

The NIAA have engaged Inside Policy to design a Monitoring and Evaluation Framework to support ongoing monitoring of remote food security and delivery of the National Strategy for Food Security in Remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities 2025–35.

On 5 March 2025, the Hon Malarndirri McCarthy, Minister for Indigenous Australians, released the National Strategy for Food Security in Remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities (the Strategy). The Strategy responds to Recommendation 10 of the 2020 House of Representatives Standing Committee on Indigenous Affairs Inquiry into food pricing and food security in remote Indigenous communities Report (HORSCIA Inquiry).

The Strategy was developed in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, community-controlled health organisations and state and territory governments, with the vision that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living on Country and in remote communities are healthy and food secure. It provides a coordinated national approach to improving remote food security and commits to development and implementation of a Monitoring and Evaluation Framework.
