The Indigenous Rangers Program (IRP) assists First Nations people in managing Country according to Traditional Owners’ objectives. Indigenous rangers use traditional knowledge and cultural practices, combined with Western science, to manage land, river and sea Country and deliver environmental, cultural, social and economic development outcomes. Through achieving these outcomes the IRP contributes to Closing the Gap targets (6, 7, 8, 15, 16) and Priority Reforms (2, 4).
Keogh Bay People Pty Ltd has been commissioned by the Australian Government to undertake this activity, which has two components:
- A review of the IRP to inform improvements to IRP administration and delivery, and
- An evaluation readiness assessment of the IRP, to inform the feasibility, practicality and value of a future impact evaluation of the program.
