The Australian Government has announced more support for Indigenous businesses and communities to help them during, and after, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.

The Australian Government has announced travel restrictions for remote communities to help protect them from Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Movement into some remote areas has been restricted from midnight Thursday 26 March 2020.

A further Restriction of Entry has been issued and will come into effect from 7pm on 26 March 2020 and will remain in place until further notice for the remote Indigenous communities on the Tiwi Islands:

As Coronavirus (COVID-19) spreads, Australian governments have decided to restrict the movement of people into remote communities. The restrictions will commence shorty and community members are encouraged to stay in their own community, as it is the safest place to be.

A Restriction of Entry for the Tiwi Islands has been issued from 18 March 2020 and will remain in place until further notice.

The National Indigenous Australian Agency (NIAA) has extensive and close engagement with around 400 indigenous communities across Australia, including many remote locations.

Every year, people all over the world come together to recognise and celebrate the achievements of women globally.

This year, the theme is ‘Generation Equality: Realizing women’s rights for an equal future’ recognises the importance of gender equality.
