Publication abstract:

In 2016, the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C) commissioned a Randomised Control Trial (RCT) of SEAM to determine its effect. The RCT took place in seven Northern Territory (NT) schools across terms 3 and 4 of the 2016 school year. The RCT involved 448 students in the treatment group who were subject to the standard SEAM processes (i.e. referred to School Attendance and Truancy Officers (SATOs) for potential SEAM interventions) and 448 students who were matched in a control group and were not subject to the standard SEAM process.
