Marri-Jabin IPA and Thamarrurr Rangers
The first stage of the Marri-Jabin Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) was dedicated in 2010. It covers around 71,200 hectares around the Moyle and Little Moyle River area.
Miriuwung Gajerrong Rangers
Aboriginal Rangers for Reserve 31165 is a unique project located in the east Kimberley region of Western Australia. Reserve 31165 covers 125,000 hectares. It is bordered on two sides by Lake Argyle; a man-made lake constructed as part of the Ord River Irrigation Scheme.
The Western Desert Martu Ranger Programme
Martu are the traditional owners of the Western Desert region in Western Australia. This region comprises parts of the Great Sandy, Little Sandy and Gibson Deserts. The Western Desert Martu Ranger Program is supported by Kanyirninpa Jukurrpa (KJ).
Mangarrayi Rangers
The Mangarrayi Rangers work on the Mangarrayi Aboriginal Land Trust, formerly Elsey Station. They undertake fee-for-service contracts throughout the greater Roper River catchment.
Kiwirrkurra IPA and Rangers
Lying in the sand hill country of the Gibson and Great Sandy deserts is the Kiwirrkurra Indigenous Protected Area (IPA). This IPA was dedicated in 2014.
Birriliburu IPA
Birriliburu Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) was dedicated in 2013 and stretches over 6.6 million hectares of striking desert. The IPA covers three central west desert regions — the Little Sandy Desert, Gibson Desert and the Gascoyne.
Wardaman IPA
Wardaman country lies within the Victoria River and Upper Daly catchments, west of Katherine in the Northern Territory. The Wardaman Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) was dedicated in 2014. It covers approximately 224,718 hectares of country rich in cultural heritage.
Wagiman Guwardagun Rangers
The Wagiman Guwardagun Rangers are based at Leewin Springs, near Pine Creek in the Katherine region. They manage 130,000 hectares of country on the Wagiman Aboriginal Land Trust.
Malak Malak Land Management Rangers
The Malak Malak Land Management Rangers work across 30,000 hectares of land, bordering the iconic Daly River.
Bulgul Land and Sea Rangers
The Bulgul Land and Sea Rangers manage 36,000 hectares of land and sea country across the Delissavale/Wagait/Larrakia Land Trust.
Yugul Mangi Rangers
Yugul Mangi Rangers work throughout the 670,000 hectares of land and sea country in the Roper-Gulf region. The rangers:
Yappala IPA
Situated in the southern Flinders Ranges, the Yappala Indigenous Protected Area covers 10,886 hectares. It was dedicated in 2013. The area features acacia shrub lands, open eucalyptus woodlands, the imposing Yappala Range and the artefact-rich floodplains along Hookina Creek.
Mount Willoughby IPA
The striking arid landscape of the Mount Willoughby IPA was dedicated in 2002. Covering 420,672 hectares, the IPA is situated over two bioregions — where the stony plains of the Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre Basin meet the mulga shrub lands of the Great Victoria Desert.
Nantawarrina IPA and Rangers
Australia’s first Indigenous Protected Area (IPA), Nantawarrina was dedicated in 1998. The property covers 58,000 hectares on Adnyamathanha lands. It lies in rugged terrain between the Flinders and Gammon Ranges National Parks.
Barkindji Maraura Rangers
Fletchers Lake and associated wetlands near Dareton in south-west New South Wales is home to the Barkindji Maraura people. This area is an important part of the Murray-Darling System.
