Gumma IPA
The Gumma Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) is located south of Nambucca Heads on the north coast of New South Wales. It was dedicated in 2011. This IPA complements the estuarine system for the adjacent Gaagal Wanggaan (South Beach) National Park on the eastern seaboard.
Nijinda Durlga IPA and Gangalidda-Garawa Rangers
The Nijinda Durlga Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) was dedicated in 2014. It is located in the southern Gulf of Carpentaria between Burketown and the Northern Territory border. The IPA covers over 186,850 hectares of the traditional country of the Gangalidda people.
Nanum Wungthim Land and Sea Rangers
The Nanum Wungthim Land and Sea Rangers are based in Napranum on the west coast of Cape York. The rangers spend the majority of their time at the Pennefather River and Beach due to the high conservation value of the area.
Mapoon Land and Sea Rangers
The Mapoon Land and Sea Rangers manage the traditional lands and seas of the Tjungundji people at Mapoon on Cape York Peninsula. In 1989, a Deed of Grant of Land in Trust covering 183,900 hectares was handed back to the Mapoon people by the Queensland Government.
Mandingalbay Yidinji IPA and Rangers
The Mandingalbay Yidinji Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) was dedicated in 2011. It straddles the Wet Tropics and Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Areas in north Queensland. Mandingalbay Yidinji country lies just east of Cairns across Trinity Inlet and includes a great diversity of environments.
Lama Lama Rangers
The Lama Lama National Park is in the Cape York Peninsula bioregion, and is located east of the Great Dividing Range. The region includes highly significant wetlands, coastal and riparian vegetation, and extensive woodlands.
Kowanyama Rangers
The Kowanyama Rangers manage the Kowanyama area located on the Mitchell River, on the west coast of the Cape York Peninsula. It is one of the largest and most ecologically diverse aquatic systems in Australia. The annual outflow of Kowanyama rivals the Murray River system.
Kalan Rangers
The Kalan Rangers work within the Mt Croll Nature Reserve and the surrounding Aboriginal freehold land located in the Cape York Peninsula of north Queensland. This area consists of approximately 17,990 hectares of high quality ecosystems.
Kaanju Ngaachi Wenlock and Pascoe Rivers IPA
The Kaanju Ngaachi Wenlock and Pascoe Rivers Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) was dedicated in 2008. It stretches across nearly 200,000 hectares of wet tropical forest and sand ridge country between Lockhart River, Coen and Weipa on Cape York.
Jamba Dhandan Duringala IPA
Dedicated in 2010, the Jamba Dhandan Duringala Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) comprises approximately 37,957 hectares of land in the Queensland outback. The IPA comprises two adjoining pastoral properties, Murra Murra and Bendee Downs.
Gunggandji Land and Sea Rangers
The Gunggandji Land and Sea Rangers manage the natural and cultural values of Gunggandji country. This country surrounds Yarrabah in Queensland. The rangers undertake training and on-ground activities to establish a professional Indigenous ranger workforce.
Guanaba IPA
The Guanaba Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) was dedicated in November 2000. It is locted at the foot of Mount Tamborine near the Queensland-New South Wales border. This IPA covers 100 hectares of dense rainforest and vine thickets, eucalypt woodlands and picturesque creeks.
Girringun IPA and Girringun Land and Sea Rangers
The Girringun Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) was dedicated in June 2013. It covers over 1.2 million hectares in far north Queensland. This IPA includes terrestrial, marine and coastal areas.
Gidarjil Bundaberg Land and Sea Rangers
The Gidarjil Land Rangers focus their work around the Granite Creek area near Bundaberg in Queensland. This area is the ancestral home of the Gurang clan. Part of the area is listed in the Directory of Important Wetlands for Australia.
Eastern Kuku Yalanji IPA and Eastern Yalanji Rangers
Eastern Kuku Yalanji Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) was dedicated in 2013. It sweeps across 70,135 hectares, taking in parts of two of Australia's renowned world heritage areas – the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics.
