Yappala IPA
Situated in the southern Flinders Ranges, the Yappala Indigenous Protected Area covers 10,886 hectares. It was dedicated in 2013. The area features acacia shrub lands, open eucalyptus woodlands, the imposing Yappala Range and the artefact-rich floodplains along Hookina Creek.
Mount Willoughby IPA
The striking arid landscape of the Mount Willoughby IPA was dedicated in 2002. Covering 420,672 hectares, the IPA is situated over two bioregions — where the stony plains of the Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre Basin meet the mulga shrub lands of the Great Victoria Desert.
Nantawarrina IPA and Rangers
Australia’s first Indigenous Protected Area (IPA), Nantawarrina was dedicated in 1998. The property covers 58,000 hectares on Adnyamathanha lands. It lies in rugged terrain between the Flinders and Gammon Ranges National Parks.
Barkindji Maraura Rangers
Fletchers Lake and associated wetlands near Dareton in south-west New South Wales is home to the Barkindji Maraura people. This area is an important part of the Murray-Darling System.
Mid North Coast Aboriginal Rangers
The Mid North Coast Aboriginal Ranger team supports Aboriginal aspirations in caring for their country. The rangers work across four local Aboriginal Land Council regions and operate across a range of different land tenures in the Mid North Coast region.
Ngunya Jargoon IPA
Ngunya Jargoon, meaning ‘my land’, was dedicated as an Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) in 2013. It covers over 1,114 hectares of the Lower Richmond Valley on the northern coast of New South Wales.
Ngulingah Nimbin Rock Rangers
The Bundjalung people are the original custodians of the northern coastal areas of New South Wales. This area continues to hold special significance for the Bundjalung people.
Githabul Rangers
The Githabul Rangers come from the Githabul community. They work across some 110,000 hectares in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. This region includes rainforests as well as the Border Ranges National Biodiversity Hotspot.
Torres Strait Islands Rangers
The Torres Strait lies between Australia's Cape York Peninsula and Papua New Guinea. It is home to three dedicated Indigenous Protected Areas (IPAs) and encompasses 14 Torres Strait Island community-based ranger groups on 13 island communities.

Minyumai IPA and Jahnala Yenbalehla Rangers
Minyumai Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) was dedicated in 2011. The IPA encompasses ancient rainforests and floodplain wetlands. These act as a gateway to some of the largest coastal forests in far northern New South Wales.
Yuku-Baja-Muliku Rangers
The Yuku-Baja-Muliku people are the traditional custodians of Archer Point, which is located just south of Cooktown in north Queensland.
Yirrganydji Indigenous Land and Sea Rangers
The Yirrganydji Indigenous Land Sea Rangers care for Yirrganydji country, which runs north from Cairns to Port Douglas in Queensland.
Anangu Luritjiku Rangers
The Anangu Luritjiku Rangers work on Haasts Bluff Aboriginal Land Trust (ALT). This Trust comprises around 4 million hectares located in the West MacDonnell Ranges. It links into a north-south corridor of Indigenous Protected Areas in the Northern Territory.
Normanton Rangers
The Normanton Land and Sea Ranger Unit is comprised of rangers from the three tribal groups in the Lower Gulf of Carpentaria. These are the Kukatj, Gkuthaarn, and Kurtijar. Their operational area covers the Staaten River in the north of Queensland to the Leichardt River in the west.
Queensland Murray-Darling Rangers
The Queensland Murray-Darling region crosses a wide geographical area and reaches from Goondiwindi to Mitchell and Tara in Queensland. The Queensland Murray-Darling Rangers project showcases reconciliation in action.
