Antara - Sandy Bore IPA
Antara – Sandy Bore Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) was dedicated in 2011. It and covers more than 846,000 hectares of arid Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands in north-west South Australia.
Uunguu IPA and Rangers
In 2011 the Wunambal Gaambera people dedicated Stage One of the Uunguu Indigenous Protected Area (IPA). This is located in the north Kimberley – one of the most spectacular land and seascapes in the world. Stage Two was declared in 2015 and the IPA now covers over 759,806 hectares.
Paruku IPA and Rangers
The Paruku Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) borders the Great Sandy and Tanami deserts and is south of Halls Creek. Covering around 430,000 hectares it includes a collection of wetlands known as Paruku (Lake Gregory).
Nyul Nyul Rangers
The Nyul Nyul Rangers are located about 120 kilometres north of Broome on the Middle Dampier Peninsula at Beagle Bay. They look after approximately 350,000 hectares of land and sea country. This country includes delicate coastal habitats, monsoon vine thickets, and inland wetlands and springs.
Nyikina Mangala Rangers
The Nyikina Mangala Rangers are based at the community of Jarlmadangah. Their work is focused around the Fitzroy River, which is central to the cultural heritage of the Nyikina Mangala people.
Karajarri IPA and Rangers
Karajarri Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) was dedicated in 2014, as a way to manage, protect and enhance Karajarri country. Covering nearly 2.5 million hectares of land in the southern Kimberley, the IPA is biologically rich and diverse.
Dambimangari IPA
Dambimangari Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) is located on the dramatic Kimberley coast between Broome and Darwin. It was dedicated as an IPA in 2013. Situated north of Derby, this IPA stretches east to the Prince Regent area and covers 642,294 hectares.
Bardi Jawi IPA and Rangers
Dedicated in 2013, the beautiful Bardi Jawi Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) is located 160 kilometres north of Broome. Surrounded by sea on three sides, it covers 126,990 hectares of land and sea country.
Balanggarra IPA and Rangers
The Balanggarra Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) is located in the rugged, beautiful Kimberley region near the Western Australian border. It was dedicated in 2013 and covers over 1 million hectares of land and sea country.
Yalata IPA and Rangers
Yalata Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) is located at the edge of the Great Victoria Desert on the southern margin of Australia's majestic Nullarbor Plain. This IPA was dedicated in 2013. It covers 456,300 hectares of coastal dunes, limestone cliffs, sand plains and mallee shrub lands.
Raukkan Rangers
The Raukkan Rangers work on a variety of different land tenures across the Coorong Lower Lakes Region and the mouth of the Murray River. The Murray River is the nation’s most iconic river.
Nyangumarta Warrarn IPA and Rangers
Dedicated in 2015, Nyangumarta Warrarn Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) covers a vast 2.8 million hectares. Nyangumarta Warrarn IPA is a rich and varied landscape with high ecological values.
Ninghan IPA
Rising gently from the surrounding plains Nyingarn (Mount Singleton) is named after the echidna. It lends its character and name to the Ninghan Indigenous Protected Area (IPA). The Ninghan IPA was dedicated in 2006.
Warlu Jilajaa Jumu IPA and Yanunijarra Ngurrara Rangers
Warlu Jilajaa Jumu Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) was dedicated in 2007 . It covers over 1.6 million hectares of arid scrub and desert wetlands in the north-west of Western Australia’s Great Sandy Desert. The IPA is cared for by its traditional owners, the Ngurrara people.
Ngaanyatjarra IPA and Rangers
The Ngaanyatjarra Lands cover a total area of 25 million hectares — of which 9.8 million hectares is an Indigenous Protected Area (IPA). Larger than Tasmania, the IPA encompasses the entire Western Australian section of the Central Ranges Bioregion.
